About Me

I'm Alex Rivera, a full stack developer based in Portland, Oregon. I've been building web applications professionally for over 8 years, working with startups, agencies, and enterprise clients to create digital products that users love.

My Journey

I fell in love with programming while tinkering with websites as a teenager. After earning a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Washington, I joined a boutique digital agency where I honed my skills across the full stack. In 2020, I went independent to focus on projects that align with my values -- sustainability, accessibility, and open source.

What I Believe

• User-first design - Technology should serve people, not the other way around
• Clean code - Readable, well-tested code is a competitive advantage

When I'm Not Coding

You'll find me hiking in the Pacific Northwest, roasting coffee beans, contributing to open source projects, or mentoring aspiring developers through Code for Portland.
